David Galea - Bass Guitar and Guitar

David Galea has been performing as a professional musician for the past twenty years. In that time he has graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor degree in Jazz and Popular Music. He has worked with various artists from interstate and locally including master drummer David Jones, singer David Campbell, Peter Cupples, Elly Hoy, Sarah Collyer, Kate Mackie, Hayley Cox and many others. David has also worked with local Jazz artists including Joseph Marchisella and his group Lateo, the soundscapes Trio, His own group the “Wood and Wire” quartet that features Dave Spicer on Piano and master saxophonist David Theak. David has also been a regular member of the James whiting quintet performing his original compositions in and around Brisbane. 
 
As a guitarist David has been taught from a young age and has qualified at the Trinity College level of musicianship in classical music. His education at QUT in Jazz and Popular music as well as his experience as a professional bass player has given him a unique position by which to teach other students, a perspective that focuses on developing the skills needed to perform and play with other musicians, a joy that he wants to spread to other students. 
 
David has been honing his skills as a performer, an educator and a composer for many years. As a bass player he has been heavily involved in the blues scene in the past in Brisbane as well as the jazz, Pop and funk circles. 
 
He has recorded as a composer two albums that contain all of his own compositions in the modern jazz style. The first one entitles BassBoy was released in 2008 and the second “Wood and Wire” was released in 2013.
David has also recorded with many other artists as a sideman, including the soundscapes trio, the soundscapes Quintet, Brett Fowler and the enterprise, Jelly kids, and various others. 
 
David is currently working on his third recording writing music that will be recorded by the “Wood and Wire” Quartet. David is committed to education in Guitar and Electric bass and also at developing new and more effective ways to teach others the fundamentals of music while also making it fun and exciting along the way.
